I was using my punch and at present it won't open. Information technology'south stuck closed with my paper IN the punch. how do i get it to pop open again? TIA

Probably not the recommended method, but when that happened to me I tapped mine with a modest hammer till information technology popped open.

I was going to advise slamming information technology on a tabular array, but that's probably not the best or safest set up!! LOL Sometimes when my punches get stuck, I have my scissors (or something strong) and push the lesser of the punch until it pops back out. And so punch some wax newspaper and then information technology doesn't happen once more.

Not certain who it was, but somebody said putting it in the freezer for a infinitesimal loosens it up. I've had success pushing & repushing the punch mechanism, and then sliding a butterknife into the paper channel gently. Skillful luck!

ETA: I just bought that punch today!

I'm afraid that I'k a trigger-happy scrapper - I blindside it against the table and so, if that doesn't piece of work, I smack it lightly with my little MM hammer. I oasis't had i yet that didn't popular open up from that picayune act of violence

We are violent scrappers! haha I've done a little scrap of all of the above. Practise make sure you use a lil sharpening kit to continue information technology from sticking.

They are kinda like computers, when they stop working, just kick them. right?

Then I gauge I am a fierce Scrapper as well I smack it on the tabular array; and if that doesn't work I get dh to fix it. lol

I never tried the hammer; next time I'll try that.

I also slam ( I call it smacking) but make certain I have a magazine on the table to protect the table... non the dial! Hey... I like the idea of the little hammer! Makes me think of the Beatles song.... bang bang Maxwells silver hammer came downward on.... we could insert our own words.....the punch!!!!

your paper might be too thick,,,,,mine won't cutting a really good quality thick paper like bazzill.

What kind of sharpening kit are yous talking about? I've never heard of annihilation like that.

I punch aluminum foil occasionally to sharpen mine, but I am another slammer here ... I usually slam the side of it against the table and information technology pops right open (and yes, we exercise seem to be a fairly violent group )

I ordinarily start by pushing against the bottom of it with my thumb, but I think banging it confronting something is ofttimes the merely style. Just be conscientious about hit it with metal things though, because I've dented the sharp edge of the cutter with scissors before, and that was the end of that punch.

I effort to "service" mine every now and so past making xx or so punches through aluminium foil to sharpen them and shave off whatsoever dents, and then half a dozen through waxed paper to lubricate them. That works.

If it'due south a new punch though - straight back to the shop!

I've heard of the foil and wax paper, but never a sharpening 'kit'.

I am honestly not sure it makes any deviation, but.... I find it'southward i of those "can't hurt, might assistance" things.

I've never tried slamming my stuck punches. I normally try to unstick by punching/pushing down over again, or pushing UP on the bottom of the punch with something like the handle of the scissors.

I hit it with my mm hammer, then sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.. And then I 'punched' paper towel (not all the way cuz I didn't want information technology to get stuck again) until the grease was gone.. at present they dial like new!
